Police seek assistance in propane tank thefts

The Round Rock Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying suspect(s) involved in the theft of propane tanks from local retailers. Since Jan. 1, the department has received four reports of a male subject breaking into and removing full tanks of propane from outside storage containers.

A total of 60 Blue Rhino brand propane tanks were removed by a subject after the chain was cut that secures the storage containers. The suspect loaded the tanks in a 4-door dark colored truck. It is possible that the suspect may be wearing clothing that would disguise him as a legitimate delivery person or contractor.

The propane tank thefts occurred in Round Rock during varied hours on the following dates and locations:

  • Jan. 1, Walgreens, 2851 Oakmont
  • Jan. 22, Wag-a-bag, 801 South Mays
  • Jan. 26, Walgreens, 2220 S. IH 35
  • Feb. 1, Walgreens, 2851 Oakmont

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to call the Round Rock Police Department Property Crimes Unit at 512-341-3103 or Williamson County Crime Stoppers at 800-253-7867.

Anonymous crime tips can also be submitted using Tip411, by texting RRPD + the tip to 847411.
