UIL Baseball State Championships returns to Round Rock for another four years

The “Road to Round Rock” brings UIL Baseball back for another four years

Grab your mitts, pack your bags, and hit the Road… to Round Rock! The University Interscholastic League (UIL) Baseball State Championships returns to the Sports Capital of Texas for another four years!

“We are thrilled to announce the UIL Baseball State Tournament will return to Dell Diamond,” said UIL Executive Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt. “Dell Diamond and the Round Rock Express provide a first-class experience to fans, student-athletes and coaches. We look forward to more successful tournaments in the future.”

This homerun deal starts with baseball tournament play in June of 2018, and runs through 2021 with an option to extend the partnership in Round Rock at that time. “We are excited to continue to host the UIL state championship games here at Dell Diamond,” Express President Chris Almendarez said. “This tournament aligns with our mission to promote the game of baseball and what better way to showcase the best high school teams in one of the best baseball stadiums in the country.”

Round Rock was recently named the #2 Best Minor League Baseball Town in the Country, and has been home to the UIL Baseball State Championships since 2000. In 2018, the 1A, 2A, 3A, 5A and 6A classifications will be played in the Sports Capital.
