Round Here, We Rock A Mask - City of Round Rock

Round Here, We Rock A Mask

The City of Round Rock and Round Rock Chamber are partnering on a campaign to have local businesses require employees and customers to wear masks to slow the spread of COVID-19.

“Round Here, We Rock a Mask” flyers will be virtually distributed by the Chamber and City to area businesses to display on their doors as a signal that mitigating the spread of COVID-19 is a responsibility shared by individuals and businesses alike.

The goal of the campaign is to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Round Rock in order to prevent overwhelming our hospitals and to keep local businesses open.

“We need all people to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible, especially when gathering in close proximity to others when out in public,” Mayor Craig Morgan said. “Additionally, we encourage businesses to require employees and customers to wear masks when social distancing is not feasible.

“The City continues to be in constant contact with local medical professionals to monitor local cases and hospitalizations and will take additional steps as warranted. We must all do our part to slow the spread and keep Round Rock open.”

Chamber Board Chair Scott Swindell sent an email to members on Friday echoing the same message.

“I am writing to you today with an important request. If your business is not currently fully implementing the use of social distancing and the wearing of masks by employees and customers, please do so now,” Swindell wrote. “The Chamber is encouraging all Round Rock businesses, as well as all community members, to follow the guidelines from both the CDC and the State of Texas regarding social distancing and the use of masks to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus while we continue to keep our businesses open and running. Doing so now can keep us all safer and can hopefully prevent our state leaders from implementing more stringent limitations on business activities in the future.”
