Round Rock City Council approves construction of Greenlawn Boulevard widening

Round Rock City Council voted unanimously Thursday, May 22 to approve construction for the Greenlawn Boulevard widening project, which will expand the roadway from I-35 to SH 45.

The existing four-lane divided arterial will be widened to six lanes and a separated 8-foot bicycle path will be added along the one-mile stretch.

Greenlawn Boulevard runs alongside The District, a 65.5-acre mixed-use development currently under construction. The development will include six access points along Greenlawn Boulevard.

The $13.9 million contract, awarded to Austin Engineering Co., Inc., is funded by the City’s Transportation and Economic Development Corporation (Type B) sales tax revenues. Construction is expected to begin this summer and take approximately 14 months to complete.
