City considers extending CapMetro bus schedules

The City is asking for public input on proposed improvements to local CapMetro bus services at an open house scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Round Rock Transit Center, 300 W. Bagdad Ave.

The City is proposing to extend the hours for Route 50 to run between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Route 50 travels between Austin Community College’s Round Rock Campus and Howard Station, serving destinations such as the Outlet Mall, H-E-B Plus University, Sunrise corridor, downtown, Round Rock Transit Center and La Frontera. Service currently operates weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Another proposal being considered is adding another morning departure at approximately 7:55 a.m. to Route 980 as well as an additional evening return at approximately 6:44 p.m. Route 980 travels from the Round Rock Transit Center to the New Life Park & Ride and then continues onto its Austin service, traveling on the MoPac managed lanes into downtown. Service currently operates weekdays, with two morning trips and two evening trips to and from Round Rock.

The open house will be come and go with no formal presentation. Comments about these changes may also be emailed to clee@roundrocktexas.gov
