The City of Round Rock has once again earned the ETC Institute’s “Leading the Way” award for its outstanding achievement in the delivery of services to residents.
Every two years, the City conducts a survey of its citizens to see how well the city government is meeting their needs and to determine the issues of concern to them. Round Rock ranked in the top 10 percent among communities across the United States during the fall/winter 2024 survey season with regard to its performance in the three core areas assessed on ETC Institute’s DirectionFinder Survey:
- Satisfaction with overall quality of services
- Satisfaction with customer service provided by employees
- Satisfaction with the value residents think they receive for local taxes and fees
In addition to being among the best overall, Round Rock also scored more than 20 percentage points higher than the national average in 25 different areas of city services. These areas include how safe people feel downtown, satisfaction with parks and recreation programs, and how helpful city employees are. Residents also gave high marks for the city’s water, wastewater, trash and recycling services, as well as library services and the condition of city streets and sidewalks.
The ETC Institute has been conducting its DirectionFinder Survey since 1999 and has collected input from over 2 million residents across all 50 states.
In Round Rock’s 2024 survey, respondents reported:
- 86% approval with overall quality of City services – which is 36% above Texas average, 37% above U.S. average
- 76% satisfaction with customer service provided by City employees – 32% higher than Texas average, 36% above U.S. average
- 57% satisfaction with overall value received for taxes, fees – 27% higher than Texas average, 24% above U.S. average
“These results show that Round Rock residents overwhelmingly trust the City to deliver high-quality services—and we don’t take that trust lightly,” said Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan. “From customer service to the overall value for taxes and fees, we’re proud to lead the way in Texas and the nation.”
Since 1999, the DirectionFinder Survey has been administered to nearly 2 million residents in all 50 states. To learn more about the City’s biennial City survey, visit roundrocktexas.gov/survey.
