WCAD now accepting 2026 historic tax exemption applications

Applications for the 2026 historic tax exemption are due at the Williamson County Appraisal District (WCAD) between January 1 and April 30, 2026. Staff will schedule an inspection a few weeks after the application is received at WCAD.

Since applications are processed as they are received, it is advantageous to apply earlier in the application period rather than later.

Inspection reports for the 2025 exemptions were distributed with the notification letters in July, with instructions that issues in the report must be addressed by April 30 to be eligible for the 2026 tax exemption. Please contact Kerstin Harding at kharding@roundrocktexas.gov if:

  • You have questions about the status of your 2025 inspection report or want copies of photos from the inspection.
  • Your project requires a Certificate of Appropriateness.
  • Your project is extensive and you wish to propose a phased work plan for completion.

The application form may be downloaded from the WCAD Forms page (under “forms and applications – exemption applications”). If you are unsure about some of the form fields, refer to our Form 50-122 instructions. Applications may be submitted by mail or through WCAD’s online Exemption Contact page. To access the uploading screen select “submit application” under “reason for contact.”
