Library hosts career workshops

The Round Rock Public Library presents Navigating Your Career Journey to Find the Best Job for You, a series of workshops held on Monday evenings in September, presented by Monica Peña. By the end of this series, participants will have gained valuable insights and practical tools to navigate their career journey successfully. Whether a recent graduate, a mid-career professional, or someone looking to make a significant career change, this free workshop series will empower attendees to take proactive steps towards achieving professional aspirations.

Attendees are encouraged to register for each class in the series.

Join us on Monday, Sept. 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for Setting Clear Career Goals. In this first part of the series, we will explore mindset, preparation, and the importance of setting clear and achievable career goals. Attendees will be guided through the process of identifying their past experiences, passions, values, and strengths to help develop a roadmap for professional growth. We’ll learn to use tools like ChatGPT to find keywords, characteristics, and criteria in your job search.

Join us on Monday, Sept. 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for Maximizing Your LinkedIn Profile. LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network on the internet. In this workshop, we’ll delve into the power of LinkedIn and show you how to create an impressive and impactful profile. We’ll share tips on optimizing your profile, building a strong network, and leveraging LinkedIn’s features to enhance your professional visibility. You’ll learn how to make connections, engage with industry leaders, and uncover exciting career opportunities.

Join us on Sept. 23 for Mastering Mock Interviews. Interviews can be nerve-wracking, but with practice and preparation, you can excel. In this workshop, we’ll provide insights into the art of mastering mock interviews. We’ll discuss common interview formats, share effective strategies for answering challenging questions, and offer tips for showcasing your skills and experience confidently. Through simulated interview scenarios, you’ll gain practical experience and learn how to leave a lasting impression on potential employers.

Join us on Sept. 30 for Career Advancement Strategies including Elevating Your Networking Skills. In the final part of this series, we’ll focus on strategies for advancing your career. We’ll discuss the importance of continuous learning, professional development opportunities, and the significance of adapting to evolving industries. You’ll learn about personal branding, positioning yourself as an industry expert, and seeking mentorship. We’ll also explore avenues for career growth, such as lateral moves, promotions, or transitioning to new roles or industries.  Networking is an essential aspect of career growth, and building strong professional relationships can open doors to new opportunities. In this segment, we’ll also explore the art of networking, both online and offline. We’ll provide guidance on how to approach networking events, establish meaningful connections, and nurture professional relationships. You’ll discover techniques for effective communication, expanding your network, and leveraging your connections for career advancement.
