City seeks your input on Transportation Master Plan update

The City of Round Rock is updating its Transportation Master Plan (TMP), and while there are no more public meetings, you can provide input online.

Citizens can also provide input online via this survey. NOTE: The survey closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. We have received 960 responses so far.

Residents are encouraged to go online to share their thoughts about issues like congestion, safety, or needed improvements in the City. The feedback will be recorded and registered in the project database. As of Sept. 26, 440 surveys had been completed.

The City held four neighborhood workshops from Oct. 3 to Oct. 12 to get public input.

  • Monday, Oct. 3 Gattis Elementary. This workshop focused primarily on neighborhoods and roads south of US 79 and east of I-35.
  • Thursday, Oct. 6 at Bluebonnet Elementary. This workshop focused primarily on neighborhoods and roads south of Sam Bass Road and west of I-35.
  • Monday, Oct. 10 at Round Rock High School. This workshop focused primarily on neighborhoods and roads north of Sam Bass Road and west of I-35.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Robertson Elementary. This workshop focused primarily on neighborhoods and roads north of US 79 and east of I-35.

An Open House meeting was held Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Baca Center, with 27 attending. You can visit the TMP webpage to view information presented at the Open House. Large-scale aerial maps were provided at the meeting, and you can also read what residents had to share online in map format.

The TMP update provides an opportunity for the City to measure and evaluate current transportation demands. Viable improvements and recommendations for the City’s transportation infrastructure will be developed based on increasing population and employment growth within the City Limits and the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ).

The goals and objectives of the update are:

  • Ensure citizens of Round Rock are afforded an adequate future transportation system
  • Ensure efficient utilization of the half-cent sales tax dedicated to roadway improvements
  • Identify major deficiencies in the existing transportation network
  • Maintain the quality of life enjoyed by the citizens of Round Rock
