Update: City closed warming center at 7 p.m. Thursday

Update: The City of Round Rock will be closing its warming center at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18. Operations were winding down Thursday afternoon.

The warming center was open for two days and served 41 individuals, some of whom stayed overnight while some stayed just long enough to recharge electronic devices.

From Tuesday, Feb. 16: The City has opened the Baca Center, 301 W. Bagdad Ave., Building 2, as a warming center for residents in need. A warming center is a place for temporary warming and power recharges. Please bring your own food, water, blankets/outerwear and chargers. No pets allowed.

Warming centers are not set up for extended or overnight stays and may also be at risk to power loss or other service interruptions.

Call 512-943-1700 for information on other warming centers in Williamson County. Some are allowing pets in crates. The Austin Disaster Relief Network lists other area shelters here.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, 38 individuals have used the Round Rock warming center location.
