Flores, Montgomery sworn in after re-election to Round Rock City Council

Two City Councilmembers were sworn in for new terms at the Thursday, May 22 Council meeting.

Place 2 Councilmember Rene Flores and Place 6 Councilmember Hilda Montgomery took the oath of office after being re-elected in May. Montgomery was re-elected with 80.1% percent of the vote over challenger Emran Rouf, and Flores ran unopposed.

Both were sworn in by Round Rock Municipal Court Judge Alan McGraw.

Both council members thanked their family members, fellow council members, City staff and citizens of Round Rock.

Mayor Craig Morgan praised Flores for his “thoughtfulness” and Montgomery for her “dedication,” noting that Flores and Montgomery are among the most veteran members currently serving on City Council.

Rene Flores was first elected to Place 2 in May 2016 and served as Mayor Pro-Tem from December 2020 to June 2023. Montgomery first won a special election for Place 6 in December 2017. Both were re-elected in May 2019 and May 2022 before the most recent elections.

“You all have always stood tough and had to make some tough decisions, so I really respect each of you,” Morgan said.
