Kalahari expands Round Rock resort with new outdoor attractions

Splashing good times are the norm at Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Round Rock, and that fun is about to ride an even bigger wave with construction to expand the resort’s outdoor waterpark now underway.

According to Kalahari, the outdoor portion of the waterpark will be expanded by thousands of square feet and feature several new attractions, including:

  • 900-plus foot wave action river
  • Interactive kids play area with nine new outdoor slides
  • Outdoor adult swim-up bar area

Construction of the expansion is expected to be complete just in time for the summer 2023 season.

Kalahari Resorts and Conventions officially opened the doors to its 351-acre family resort in Round Rock on Nov. 12, 2020, after a little more than two years of construction and significant community outreach and engagement.

Since that time, the resort has celebrated a two-year anniversary and seen significant success, bringing thousands upon thousands of visitors to Round Rock.

Round Rock City Council passed a series of economic development agreements with Kalahari in 2018, and the resort is already surpassing initial revenue estimates. When Kalahari opened, the City anticipated the project would bring in approximately $4.7 million in annual net, direct tax revenues to the City in the first 10 years of operations. Revenues to the City have already come in at over $5 million for the past year — well ahead of projections!
