Round Rock Library

With a little help from our Friends

Written by: Julie C., Adult Services Librarian

November is a time for reflection and gratitude. I am thankful for our new library space, our growing collections of books and materials, our professional, helpful staff members, and our Friends!

The Friends of the Round Rock Public Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization supporting the Round Rock Public Library. Part of their mission is “to provide funds and volunteers to enrich and energize the services and programs of the library…” Without the support of the Friends, the library would not be able to provide as many programs and services as it currently does.

In the Adult Services Division, the Friends provide funding for our popular Biz.ability series, which provides guidance and education for entrepreneurs interested in starting a new business. The Friends also fund our Summer Reading Program, by providing fun grand prizes for adults including a portable grill and a Samsung Tablet.

The Friends also acquired a grant which allowed us to conduct our community reading program, One Community Four Books. With funds from the grant, we were able to purchase solar eclipse glasses so people could safely view the Annular Solar Eclipse in October.

If you love the library and would like to help us continue our mission of enabling the community to Learn, Connect, and Grow, consider joining the Friends! The Friends are having a General Meeting on Monday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. They will also have a special guest speaker, Vicki Parsons from Ballet Austin, to talk about the benefits of aging well. All are welcome!
