Program Overview
The City of Round Rock’s Community Engagement Grant Program is designed to encourage neighborhood associations to create opportunities for residents to connect, socialize, and build stronger relationships within their communities. The program supports neighborhood-led social events and activities that encourage resident participation and help establish lasting traditions that contribute to the identity and sense of community within each neighborhood.
Applications will be accepted throughout the year and are available to eligible neighborhood associations located within the City of Round Rock.
Each eligible neighborhood association may receive up to $750 per fiscal year. Approved grant funding may be used toward eligible expenses associated with a neighborhood social event or activity, including entertainment, decorations, supplies, and other approved products or materials.
All purchases made through the Community Engagement Grant Program will be procured in accordance with the City of Round Rock’s procurement policies and procedures.
Program Requirements
To participate in the Community Engagement Grant Program, neighborhood associations must meet the following requirements:
- Eligibility: The applicant must represent a neighborhood association located within the City of Round Rock.
- Annual Funding Limit: Each neighborhood association is eligible to receive up to $750 per fiscal year.
- Application Timing: Applications must be submitted at least one month prior to the planned neighborhood event or activity to allow sufficient time for review, approval, and procurement of requested items.
- Use of Grant Funds: Approved funds may be used for eligible entertainment, decorations, supplies, and other products or materials that support the approved neighborhood event or activity.
- Procurement: All approved products and materials will be purchased in accordance with the City of Round Rock’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Use of Materials: All items purchased through the grant must be used for the approved neighborhood event or activity within 60 days of grant approval.
- Point of Contact: The individual who submits the application will serve as the primary point of contact between the neighborhood association and the City’s Neighborhood Services team throughout the grant process.
- Event Attendance: The applicant or designated point of contact must be in attendance at the approved neighborhood event or activity.
- Documentation: After the event, the applicant must provide photographic documentation to the Neighborhood Services team demonstrating the use or setup of grant-funded materials, when applicable.
- Approved Use: Grant-funded items must be used for the purpose described in the approved application. Any significant changes to the proposed event or use of funds must be communicated to and approved by Neighborhood Services prior to the event.
- Block Party: If you plan to utilize the Block Party Trailer or street closure, please be sure to submit your request or permit ahead of time to gurantee availability.
Eligible events may include, but are not limited to:
- Cleanup activities
- Beautification
- Easter egg hunts
- Petting zoo
- Bounce houses
- Community barbeque
- Tree and/or brush planting (plants must be drought tolerant)
- Mural project
- Live music
- Family field day
Non-eligible projects:
- Supplanting a neighborhood organization’s operating budgets (salaries or operating expenses)
- Appreciation gifts, plaques or certificates for City staff or elected officials
- Projects that advocate or impose religious or political beliefs or restrict participation on the basis of religion political affiliation
- Electronic surveillance equipment
- Driveway repair
- Lawn care equipment
- Alcohol
- Fireworks
- Security gate installation or maintenance
- Projects outside of Round Rock city limits
- Speed bumps or traffic calming devices
- Violations of City Ordinance(s)
