Description and General Rules
Important: Please read first our local author policies in the General Rules for the Local Author Collection.
The Library wishes to recognize the literary efforts of local Williamson/Travis County authors by including one donated copy of their work in our Local Author Collection when possible.
This collection is designed to give new and emerging writers, especially those whose books are not yet widely reviewed or stocked by libraries and bookstores, an opportunity to be read by their friends and neighbors.
We have two Local Author shelves at the library – one for adult materials and one for youth materials. Materials added to the Local Author Collection will be accessible through our catalog. All books submitted for this collection become the property of the Round Rock Public Library and will not be returned.
The Round Rock Public Library local author collection is located on the first floor, near the new book section.
The collection is managed by the Technical Services Manager and an Adult Services Librarian.
Local Authors Meet and Greet
Three times a year we host a Local Author Meet & Greet for authors whose books are in our collection. Eight local authors are selected to participate in each event where they can sell their books and meet the public. Authors donate 10% of their sales from the event to the Friends of the Round Rock Public Library.

How to Write and Publish
A Blueprint for Getting Your Book Into the World is held at the end of every Meet and Greet event. Join local author Judy Lane-Boyer for a lecture on writing and publishing your own book.
Round Rock Noble Inksters
This group is a local writers workshop and social group. The group meets on Tuesday evenings in the 3rd floor Legacy Conference room at 6 p.m. and features a roundtable discussion focused on the ups and downs of writing and publishing. The public is welcome without pre-registration, but space is limited! More details in our Events Calendar.
