Summer Reading Program FAQs 2026:
Track your reading in the library’s Summer Reading Challenge tracking system, Read Squared. Log points in ReadSquared anytime—no frequent log-ins needed. Use the Read Squared website or download the app. Enter reading totals all at once or as you go (exact dates not required).
- Kids (0–11): Earn 1 point per minute of reading or 15 points per picture book read. Choose the logging system that works for your family.
- Teens (12–17) & Adults (18+): Earn 1 point per minute of reading
- Babies & toddlers: Grownups may log the books they read to their babies and toddlers in ReadSquared. Or they can use a Baby & Toddler Challenge Sheet to log reading
Family accounts in ReadSquared allow caregivers to manage multiple children’s accounts in one place. Parents can create a family account to access all of their children’s information and log materials on one screen. This feature is particularly useful for tracking reading progress and earning rewards for the entire family.
If you chose to create an account for yourself and other readers during registration, you’ll be asked to add additional readers after registering yourself.
NOTE: For parents/caregivers registering their children, it’s best to start by setting up an account for the adult as the primary account (even if you’re not participating in the program), and then adding children to the primary account when registering.
Children can earn 1 point for every minute of reading or 15 points for each picture book completed. Choose the option that works best for your family—or helps you earn the most points.
Remember, reading aloud to your child and listening to a book during storytime both count!
You can use a paper log at home or on the go if that’s helpful, then update your reading online later. All reading must be logged online to receive a prize.
Need help? Use the library’s free Wi-Fi or computers, or stop by the second-floor Summer Reading Table for assistance.
Easily log your activity using the ReadSquared app. The app is free for both Android and iOS mobile devices.

The Library has contracted with ReadSquared to provide an online logging system for the Summer Reading Challenge. (Here’s an FAQ about ReadSquared security)
The Library collects information that allows staff to accomplish three goals:
- To connect reading accomplishments to individual users,
- To resolve user-reported issues, and
- To assess the program’s effectiveness
This information includes:
- Some sort of name to identify the user. NOTE: You are not required to use your real name. Feel free to use initials or a nickname, as long as you can remember what you used. Staff will not have any way to figure it out the name you chose if you do not remember it.
- Contact information so staff can:
— Notify users about prizes,
— Resolve issues users may have complained about, including resetting forgotten passwords, and
— Ask for feedback in the form of an optional survey - General statistical information that allows Library staff to assess overall trends in participation. This information includes the ages and school attendance patterns of participants, which helps staff determine whether outreach efforts are effective
Information is limited to these purposes, and is not shared or distributed.
Data on ReadSquared is stored encrypted on secured servers and is viewed by ReadSquared only for issue resolution or training for the Round Rock Public Library.
See the ReadSquared privacy policy for more information.
ReadSquared’s privacy policy refers to its clients–in this case, Round Rock Public Library–as “your reading program sponsor.” ReadSquared does not determine which the information the Library collects.
