ESL

Who We Are

The Round Rock Public Library’s ESL program is volunteer-led. Classes are organized into three sessions per year: Fall (Sept. – Dec.); Spring (Jan. – May); and Summer (June – Aug.). Classes are limited to 1 class per person. Each class is limited to 18 participants.

How it Works

Registration for the year opens in August. Once classes are full, a wait list is created. Students who are able to get into a class in the Fall session will automatically be enrolled in the Spring and Summer sessions (unless they miss 2 classes in a row without notifying the instructor). At the beginning of the Spring and Summer sessions, any open spots are filled with people who are on the wait list.

Registration Instructions for Fall 2025

STEP 1: If you are NEW to Round Rock Public Library’s ESL classes and you are interested in Basic or Beginner 2 classes, please attend one of the Assessment Sessions (see calendar below).

STEP 2: Preregister for a spot during one of the Preregistration dates/times (see calendar below). Once you have pre-registered, you see an automated message with the date and time for the actual registration. We will have separate registration sessions for Daytime and Evening classes.

STEP 3: If you have preregistered, you will come to the library to register for a specific class in person on the date and at the time mentioned in the email received when pre-registering.

Assessment and Preregistration Date Calendar

Assessment sessions are for students NEW to the ESL program requesting a Basic or Beginner 2 class.

Registration is not required for the assessment sessions. These are drop-in, come-and-go events, held in the Literacy Classroom on the 1st Floor.
