Library Aquarium

Brushy Creek is a cherished natural resource—an essential waterway that has sustained wildlife and human communities in this region long before the founding of Round Rock. We invite you to explore life beneath the surface through the library’s aquarium exhibit, located on the 2nd Floor.

Presented in partnership with The Aquarium Company, Living Waters Fly Fishing, and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, this exhibit highlights the native aquatic species that inhabit Brushy Creek.

The fish featured in the exhibit will rotate periodically, allowing patrons to observe a variety of native species over time. Through these changes, you can become familiar with both the large and small fish that thrive in this unique ecosystem.

Among the larger native fish are the Largemouth Bass, Guadalupe Bass, and several species of sunfish. The creek is also home to the Rio Grande Cichlid—the only cichlid species native to the United States. Smaller native fish include minnows, shiners, and mollies. In addition to fish, the exhibit may also feature other aquatic life such as snails and crawfish.

We encourage you to visit the exhibit and deepen your appreciation for the rich biodiversity of Brushy Creek!
